Forwarders in Windows Server 2003

Forwarders are the servers responsible for performing recursive queries on those requests which are not resolved by our DNS Servers. Our DNS server will then works as a DNS client of the forwarders. Forwarders are generally preferable over slow links.

If forwarders are not enable, then you need to delete the [.] root forward lookup zone from the DNS server.
